Oliver Rajamani is a native of India.
He has done extensive traveling in Greece and Israel and has
studied the Roma Gypsy history and music very extensively. He
has also worked in the World Romani Congress (UN representation
for the Roma).
Oliver Rajamani takes his music education program
with much importance. His goal is to help young kids, our
future generations, to approach life and in making important
decisions for the world from their hearts. He believes
that learning and appreciating music is one of the most important
steps in making positive changes possible in children as well
as in the world since it directly connects one to the heart. As
a result he has been part of many various programs in the Austin,
Texas local community as well as outside.
Oliver Rajamani has taught percussion for children
and adults in India, Israel, and all around the United States
of America. He has taught at the University of Texas (informal
classes) and presently is part of the “One World Theatre
Cultural outreach program”, the “Dougherty Arts Center
MAP program” and also teaches at the Austin Armstrong Community
Music School in addition taking music, drumming and culture to “Gardner
Bets” juvenile detention center. He also works in
a yearly basis with “Life Works” (an mental health
institution) bringing culture and music to underprivileged children
and children from broken families and working in the leadership
programs for children. Oliver Rajamani has also been part
of the after school program at the Becker elementary school and
Matthews elementary school. He has worked with Tina Marsh
and her “Circle of Light” educating children and
adults about India, its culture and its spirit through music.

Oliver Rajamani has given lectures
and workshops on World Music and the history of the Roma (gypsies)
and their music in schools and Universities around Texas such
as the University of Texas, St. Edwards University, Austin Community
College, and Shriner University in Kerville, Tx. He
wrote his college thesis on the Roma and their plight and their
music by living in Greece and Israel amongst the Roma.
Oliver Rajamani has performed with many musicians
both locally and internationally known such as GlenVelez (frame
drum legend), Gypsy Kings (world renowned Grammy award winning
Gypsy Rumba flamenco act), Aloke Dutta (tabla master), Feyyet
Gokce (traditional Turkish saz player and folksinger), Lara and
Reyes(Latin Grammy Nominees), Arthur Brown(the God of Hellfire – famous
rocknroll singer, Bob Livingston (Cowboys and Indians), Tina
Marsh Creative Opportunity Orchestra, Music with Two of America’s
well known poets Robert Bly and Coleman Barks, Flamenco Austin,
Ballet Austin, and many others from many different styles of
music.
Oliver Rajamani is presently a faculty member at Khabele school
teaching World music.
Oliver Rajamani also tours regularly around the country with his
